This film was shot on the Ocean Front Walk and on Abbott Kinney Pier in Venice, California, in a day. This film resembles what Chaplin did at Keystone: a beach, a park and a film studio with an endless succession of gags, and laugh after laugh, but with no real narrative construction.

This improved improvisation afforded Chaplin the opportunity to first try out his flea gag, which he was to develop much later in Limelight (1952). Released on 29 April 1915
