A magnificent subject in which life-size engravings placed in an enormous volume come
to life one after the other, forming characters from an Italian farce : Pierrot, Harlequin,
Punchinello, Columbine and Cassandra. After a pantomime, the characters return to the
volume pages one after the other and become engravings once again.

THE INN WHERE NO MAN RESTS

A slightly drunk traveller tries to sleep in his bedroom at an inn. Are the effects a result of
his drunkenness ? His clothes and candlestick come to life and attack him. Then an imp
joins in the torment and begins to dance. The inhabitants of the inn, outraged by the
noise, dance the conga into the man's bedroom and proceed go after him on a wild
goose chase.

THE CHIMNEY SWEEP

Jack, the young chimney sweep, dreams that he becomes Prince thanks to the help of
the Fairy Godmother. But his boss wakes him up and takes hima long to sweep the
chimneys. In one of the shafts, Jack finds a safe full of gold and runs away with his
treasure, followed by his boss, the owner of the home, and all of the servants.
