Alongside the US and Japanese giants of cartoon, Africa also has its own animation studio, where tomorrow's African heroes are being created.

Far, far away from the Disney and Pixar studios, the Pictoon company is counting on cartoons that are "100% made in Africa". Present in Dakar since 1998, it has already produced a TV serial, numerous adverts and corporate clips.

Their productions may not exactly be regular, but there have been enough of them to keep business going for 12 years. Today, Pictoon is venturing into the creation of a feature-length film called "The Invincible Lions", a story of football, witches, friendship and power struggles, following a little hero plunged into the heart of a modern, cliché-free Africa.
