Ramzi Abu Redwan could have continued life as an activist, under the banner of some faction or other. Instead, he took a totally different route.

In the Al Amari camp in Ramallah where he grew up, he first met Palestinian musicians who had returned to the country after the 1993 Oslo Accords, and he decided to branch into music. The following year, teachers from the Angers music academy came to Jerusalem and Ramallah to give concerts. They provided two Palestinians with the opportunity to take lessons in Angers. Ramzi was one of them.
During his years of study - ARTE Reportage had already covered him at the time - he reflected on an association that would provide other Palestinian children with the possibility to follow free music lessons. Seven years later, his personal career path, as well as that of his association, Al Kamandjati ("the violinist" in Arabic) is proving to be a resounding success. Could culture bring hope to a people that is not witnessing any political progress in negotiations with the Israelis?
