Founded in 1995 and inaugurated in 1998 during the peace process, Palestinian Airlines started flying from El-Arich in Egypt, in North Sinai, before using the Rafah airport in the south of the Gaza Strip. In 2001, during the Second Intifada, the Israeli army pounded the airport runway.

Located in Amman, in Jordan, the airline, which comprises a fleet of two aircraft and the strict minimum of crew, regularly finds itself on the brink of bankruptcy.

The ban on flying over Israel means they lose time and money. And travelling from the West Bank to Gaza proves to be something of a challenge.
