2 years after the Fukushima accident, the first health consequences of the disaster are beginning to appear. And they are worrying. An official Japanese study reveals that over 40% of children in the region have cysts or nodules on their thyroids.

In parallel, a WHO report reveals that the risk of developing thyroid cancer, especially among very young girls, has increased by 70% due to Fukushima.
Is this the dawn of a disaster? For the Japanese authorities, everything is fine, and the nodules are not serious.
So ARTE Reportage travelled to the region of Fukushima to investigate, to meet families, and to film “parallel” check ups, carried out outside official circuits, in which doctors express their concern over the results. Once again in Fukushima, the children, who are more fragile than adults, are in the front line following the disaster.
