1 in 2 children on the island of Madagascar suffer from malnutrition. A French sustainable development NGO has developed a food supplement for children between the ages of 6 months and 2 years.
Koba Aina is a fortified baby food made from cereals, calcium, vitamins and iron. The product, made by Nutri’zaza, uses local produce, is made on site by a Malgasy company and is sold by a social network at an unbeatable price – 5 centimes of a euro per portion. It comes either in the form of a sachet, or is served directly in restaurants for babies, the Hotelin-jazakely.
Sine the first Hotely was opened in 2000, 15 million meals have been distributed in underprivileged areas. The aim is to increase this figure threefold over the next 5 years, and to prove that the social enterprise Nutri’zaza is economically viable.
