A trip to Siberia, along the line that links the Bovanenko gas fields, in the footsteps of the railway engineers that maintain it. The Yamal Peninsula is a hostile land, where temperatures can fall to below 60° C.

Finished as recently as 2010, the Yamal-railway connects the Russian railway network with the natural gas fields on the Arctic peninsula of the same name. At about 600 km of track, the route crosses the rough permafrost ground of the Arctic tundra, passing by swamps, marshland and rivers. It braves temperatures of about minus 50 ° Celsius, as the train has to run continuously.
