Since the 18th century, over a thousand mummies have been discovered in the peat lands of Northern Europe. The acid, damp and organic soils there contain many testimonies of the past. Most of these natural mummies are from Iron Age civilisations, between 800 and 100 B.C.

Their outstanding state of conservation enables scientists to better under their civilisations, who left no written traces. Bog bodies were offered to the gods. They are the only ones in Europe to bear witnesses to the practice of human sacrifice, which in some areas, was carried out, not on the common people but on kings. Accompanied by archaeologists, anthropologists and historians, Philippe Charlier sets out to discover the most famous of these bog bodies, in Ireland and Denmark.
