In Lima, Sarah ventures into the big top of Tarumba (Spanish for "madness"), Peru's hottest contemporary circus. The company claims to combine European Latin cultural roots, Peruvian traditions and borrowings from classical theatre.

This season's show revisits the Italian Commedia dell'arte tradition, exploring the universal themes of love and social injustice via an imbroglio of burlesque comic situations. One of the highlights of Tarumba's show is a demonstration of Caballo de paso - Peruvian dressage. Peruvian Paso horses are one of the purest breeds in the world: their distinctive gait enables the circus artists to perform amazing feats.
