The territory of the Bamileke people lies in the centre of Cameroon. Magnificent landscapes, pure air, and the volcanoes of Mount Manengouba overlook the most beautiful plateaux of the African West.

The Bamileke people are the country’s largest ethnic group. These farmers and small-livestock breeders have always jealously guarded their independence in relation to the central authority, whatever that might be. They are reputed to be very hard in business and highly interdependent. Any child of the Bamileke people who has succeeded in life is required to help their own people.
