The creation of the Dessau-Wörlitz gardens dates back to the Holy Roman Empire. They feature outstanding examples of 18th century landscaping.

With over 400 perspectives, the Dessau-Wörlitz gardens illustrate the search for freedom and asymmetry, blending the useful with the beautiful, inspired by the philosophy of the Enlightenment. The castle and the park of Oranienbaum, a few kilometres away, were built in 1683 by Prince Franz’ great grandmother. In the castle grounds, next to one of the largest orangeries in Europe, the prince had fascinating buildings built, inspired by the Far East.
