Once a year, the Mushtaq family permits itself the luxury of leaving their polluted and noisy Karachi neighbourhood for a day at the beach.

Dressed in their finest clothes, armed with their best table-ware and a prayer mat, they take a taxi to the beach, just a few kilometres from the megalopolis. At last, a little peace and quiet, but always under the watchful eye of the imams, who have their work cut out… For at the end of the obedient public beach is the French Beach, a private and expensive place which, behind its walls, appears as a den of iniquity : bikinis, rave parties, you name it !
