On 11th April 2016, a team from the collective of investigative journalists Slugnews helped ARTE Reports cameras gain access to the apartment in the Ecuadorian Embassy of London where Julian Assange has been confined for nearly 4 years.

In this rare face-to-face interview, Julian Assange refers to the day in June 2015 that Wikileaks revealed that the U.S. was spying on the French and German presidents. Talking directly to the camera, he reveals that the French secret services never contacted either himself or Wikileaks to find out more. He adds: “France is not able to protect its sovereignty from the United States”.
The cyber activist also broaches several issues currently in the headlines, such as the aftermath of 13th November attacks in France, the creation of the so-called Islamic State organisation in Iraq and the Panama Papers, revealed by the ICIJ, the International Consortium of Investigative Journalists.
The biggest fear of the Wikileaks co-founder, who is under a Swedish arrest warrant, is being extradited to the United States, where he would face trial for the online publication of thousands of U.S. military and diplomatic secret documents.
