Will the wall that Donald Trump wants to build along the border with Mexico be enough to protect his country from the traffic in drugs?

Heroine consumption in the United States is soaring, and more than 90% of the drug comes from Mexico, which is now one of the world’s main producers of the opium poppy after Afghanistan and Myanmar.
This traffic is fueling a runaway conflict involving the state, the narco-traffickers, and of course the ordinary population. The drug wars have left tens of thousands of dead and missing, and resulted in thousands of internally displaced people. There were some 36,000 killings in 2016 alone, three times more than in Afghanistan. The name for what lies behind this battle for territory is El Narco, the kingpins running these drug multinationals, anonymous billionaires often born in little mountain villages.
We set out to meet the small producers, along with those who control this extremely lucrative business.
