Mosul fell into the Islamic State’s hands 3 years ago. Iraqi forces have almost liberated it – at the price of one of the biggest urban battles since World War 2. Now, Mosul’s inhabitants tend to their wounds and try to rebuild their lives…

In the freed districts in the eastern city, Hamudi – a young orphan – struggles to survive by collecting garbage. Souhaib – a volleyball teacher – and his students rediscover once forbidden joys. Arabic peasants driven away by the fights Younis and Maryem finally return to the city. Daredevil scientist Faysal came to save his city’s archeological treasures – he also heads a militia chasing ISIS sleeper cells. Chief of police Wathaq al Hamdani is coming back from a 3 year exile after his son and his brother’s assassinations.
