It is probably the biggest televised success in recent years in Western Africa: each episode of “C’est La Vie” addresses African society’s taboos – aiming to make attitudes shift and hopefully one day laws too…

In Senegal – like in a large part of Western Africa, traditional practices of mutilation are still perpetuated.  The youth do not receive any sexual education and unwanted pregnancies are still frequent. Abortion is prohibited most of the time.
On screen and off, “C’est La Vie’s” entire crew is committed against violence against women on a daily basis. Call-in radios serve as a relay to the show and public screenings bring families together in villages. For their part, most of the actresses have become ambassadors to women’s cause and whenever they are done filming they try to raise awareness around them.
