There are 40,000 of them in Israel: Eritreans, Sudanese, Nigerians, all of them have entered the country illegally a decade ago after crossing the desert and the Egyptian border. A sports coach is trying to integrate some of them through athletics.

They cannot be expelled since they come from war zones. They live here but without any rights or perspectives. Israel does not grant refugee status to many non-jewish migrants.
Rotem Genossar – a sports coach – is 33. He founded an athletics club for them. His objective is to give them a status, a positive image; and maybe someday papers. 80 athletes from 6 to 22 years old – all from Africa – follow his training.
Stubborn, Rotem has obtained that several of his protégés participate in official competitions – even without the Israeli nationality. Their sporting successes even landed some of them a scholarship. This marks another victory for Rotem…
