This story is blurring the lines between utopia, science and reality. It is a story that is bigger than life both because of its scope – the vast expanses of virgin snow in the Siberian Antarctica – and the standing of its characters – a Russian geophysician and his son combating global warming.

Their project is to recreate an ecosystem that is as close to the Pleistocene’s – the Ice Age – to prevent the permafrost from melting; for a climatic bomb has been triggered in Siberia’s frozen underground. Serguei and Nikita Zimov are trying to defuse it with “Pleistocene Park”.
This experiment is coordinated by the North East Scientific Station, one of the foremost research stations in the Arctic. It has already started on thousands of hectares in the Russian Far-East. Now they are only missing mammoths.
