200.000 North-Korean migrants live a low-profile life in China. Their presence is illegal on the territory and they are constantly under threat from identity checks by the police – they risk being sent back to North Korea with no other perspective than being sent to an internment camp or torture.

Two North-Korean women have staked everything on their escape. Sold by traffickers to Chinese peasants, they respectively spent between three and five years in China.

They managed to flee the country thanks to a protestant South Korean NGO and have traveled 5.000 kilometers by train, bus, taxi and on foot through the jungle to the Laotian border in order to  finally reach South Korea.

Lady luck was on Song Hee’s side – she became a commentator on a famous talk-show speaking about life in North-Korea. An incredible story in a South-Korea where North-Korean refugees often have a tough time blending in.
