Off the coasts of Roscoff, the small island of Batz houses a garden hidden beyond a thick grove. At the start of the twentieth century a Parisian insurer – George Delaselle – gets the wild idea to create an exotic garden on a windy island where nothing grows…

Abandoned for close to 30 years, the garden was rediscovered by a few aficionados who reclaimed it. Getting their inspirations fromp pictures taken by George Delaselle, they have been rediscovering his garden and gave it back an air of Treasure Island of the Pacific… The garden is protected by a shelterbelt and is home to a collection of palm trees, cacti, Southern hemisphere plants, a Maori garden and a flowery moor with a view on the sea and the island of Batz’s dunes. In 1992, the garden opened its doors to the public and became the Coast’s Academy of Music’s property five years later.
