On the southern shores of the Mississippi, remain the last Louisiana shrimp fishermen. Over the years, these tough men have developed a symbiotic relationship with the wild and enchanting environment of the Bayou: perched on surprising houses on stilts, hunting racoons and alligators.

But the oil industry that has been rooted in the region for decades, is changing the ecosystem at an alarming pace: the aquatic labyrinth formed by the wetlands is now endangered, and the shrimp fisheries that used to thrive are becoming less profitable. This situation is worsened by competition coming from Asia. In the midst of these new challenges, many sons and grand-sons of fishermen have switched to oil industry jobs. Yet, a small irreducible minority, such as 72 years old Jake Billiot or the Chauvin family, still refuse to let go of their life on the river.
