Beijing is fine-tuning its five-year plan: to reduce the city's population by 15% by 2020. President Xi Jinping and the Single Party aspire to make Beijing the dazzling capital of the world's largest economic power for 2049.

They have declared war to the workers who came from poor Chinese provinces – the ones who have difficulties integrating in a forest of luxury towers. Those people are also the easiest to evict from their homes since they do not have the same rights as permanent residents.
The authorities have started to act on their objective to hunt down those they see as “bottom feeders”: around the district of Xinjiang – on the pretense of fighting poor living conditions – about 200.000 people have been asked to leave since the beginning of November. Excavators and bulldozers have immediately destroyed their apartments and small businesses in order to force the humble people (who have made possible the “Chinese Miracle”) back to their poor rural origins. And woe to those who would dare protest...
