As they were trying to get into Europe, Mustapha and Karamo have experienced torture and slavery. They have made a promise in a Libyan jail cell – to return home and discourage those who want to enter Europe illegally.

They will travel the rural regions of northern Gambia – those hit the hardest by poverty –  in a caravan with some fifteen volunteer ex-migrants. Schools, open air cinemas, meetings with local chiefs – the returnees make their terrible experience known to help stop this human hemorrhage. They also hope to convince the country's life blood of the potential this “New Gambia” has in order to develop its resources.
Despite the recent political stability, the new government's promises of a better economic outlook and international aids, radical changes have not been forthcoming. Tourism and agriculture have been snuffed out under Jammeh's dictatorship – so much so that they are now insufficient to give the next generation any hope in the future.
