Just like prehistoric men, the viewer is invited to delve deeper into the cave and discover its paintings by torch light... The Chauvet Cave was only discovered in 1994 by three French speleologists. Nobody had come inside it for 21.000 years.

In order to preserve it – but also to enable us to relive the emotion of its discovery – engineers and artists have accomplished the unique feat of building a perfect replica of it. Go back and forth between the replica and its 3D model – a cloud of more than 16 billion points – to discover Chauvet like you had never seen it. Discover an innovative way of using advanced technology to go back to the roots of art history. Their depth and complexity make these cave paintings – the oldest ones we know of to this day – a crucial example for the understanding of the origins of representation not only in art history but also in the history of the human race.
