As he meets the anti mafia judge Antonino Di Matteo in Palermo, writer Laurent Gaudé (Goncourt Prize) indulges in the perilous exercise of depicting the man.
The Goncourt laureate had already written a novel about the struggle between justice and “the Squid” (the mafia); he now forgoes fiction to inquire into the figure whose head the mafia has put a price on.
