The organization Wapikoni Mobile is tackling the high suicide rate among young Native Americans by meeting them throughout the country every year. Their objective is to help these youths direct their own movies – through which they tell their story, revive their cultural legacy and sometimes even find their calling in life.

Suicide risks among young American Indians are 5 to 6 times the national average. The living standards in reservations, the youth's loss of bearings as they are torn apart between traditional culture and modern world as well as the marginality that many communities experience are as many factors explaining those suicide rates. Notwithstanding the historical and intergenerational trauma that have triggered a form of “depression spiral” for entire families.
