Sudan is devastated by civil war and corruption; starting your own business there is complicated... In this young country where 60% of the Sudanese are under 30, many do not have stable employment and survive thanks to precarious jobs. A reality TV show is trying to change things for them.

Mashrouy is proving increasingly popular – the TV show puts the spotlight on young entrepreneurs showcasing their projects to the public. The state does not help young entrepreneurs with any kind of subsidy; thus the show strives to raise funds to make up for this fact. Out of a thousand applicants, only 24 candidates will be selected. All are passionate about their novel ideas – from electronic health care cards to the creation of innovative textiles by way of the eradication of water hyacinth. Mashrouy means “my project”. It carries many hopes of advancing the country. This partnership between the Embassy of England and the Sudanese Young Entrepreneurs Association does not conceive wealth and success without an acute sense of commitment to society's betterment.
