Six years after the earthquake that ravaged most of Haiti, Hurricane Matthew has claimed hundreds of lives, leaving in its wake the destruction of entire cities and an extremely concerning sanitary situation.

Several weeks after the disaster, while still awaiting news of certain coastal villages, Haitian associations and rescue services are getting organised. In the very south of the island, the zone most affected by the hurricane, the NGO ACTED is sending teams into isolated villages to assist victims of cholera and to organise the region’s first wide-scale food distribution.
