In 1918 – when he had just founded the company that would become the Aeropostale – Pierre-George Latécoère already envisioned flying over the Pyrenees and Spain in order to link up France with the African continent.
This prowess was achieved in less than five years. In May 1923, the Latécoère aerial lines started serving Dakar. They also served multiple stops along the Atlantic coast – from Morocco to Senegal by way of Mauritania. These aerial lines have seen pilots of legend: Saint-Exupéry, Reine or Guillaumet have all started their careers with the Aeropostale. A century later, the Latécoère-Aeropostale raid teams fly over each stop every year – they visit each country and meet the locals. Onwards to Dakar, the door to the South Atlantic: now boarding with the teams of the Latécoère raid!
