A small residential district in the South African city of Cape Town plays host to a unique community: The Bo-Kaap, made up of brightly-painted houses from which emanate tempting smells of curry.
This is home to the descendants of slaves from Malaysia, Indonesia, India, Sri Lanka and several of African countries, brought here in the 16th and 17th centuries. These slaves were called Cape Malays, and it is their history we will discover.
