The working class has played an essential part of European countries’ history – through revolutions, wars and social progress.  In 4 episodes of a spectacular tale, this show reminds us of what our societies owe to the workers’ movements and its struggles.

The story begins in the 18th century. But their fight carries on today. Much of our current democracies’ institutions and values flow from older working class demands: universal suffrage or social solidarity are some of its most telling examples. Our culture – the way we dress, the songs we listen to, the movies we watch and the mass-media themselves – heavily relies on the workers’ erstwhile popular culture. Finally, all across Asia, Africa and Latin America, millions of women and men experience lives similar to the 18th and 19th centuries’ European working class. We will bring out the present’s ever looming shadow by constantly flowing back and forth between history and current situations. Those contemporary testimonies and photographs will help us gather the threads of memory between yesterday and nowadays together again.

After the success of the first season of THE GREAT GREEK MYTHS, we bring you the next chapter! An adaptation of Homer's Iliad. An epic poem which recounts the Trojan War.

The Greeks cross the sea to lay siege to Troy and reclaim the beautiful Helen, abducted from her husband King Menelaus of Sparta by Prince Paris of Troy. After a ten-year siege of the city walls of Troy, the war turns in the Greeks favour thanks to the heroics of the famous Achilles. But were these mortals really the heroes of this war or were they merely pawns in the hands of the Gods?
Following on from the first season, each episode alternates scenes of original animation created in 3D and a rich iconography chosen from the whole of art history, from Antiquity to the Modern era.

Cause and consequence of multiple social struggles and evolutions as well as medical progress, the sexual revolution redefined our societies. From New-York to Paris, San Francisco and Berlin, discover previously unseen public and private archives with analysis by the most eminent experts.

From the advent of readily available contraception to feminist and LGBT struggles, from the change of mentalities and relaxation of censorship to the introduction of sexual education in schools: the sexual revolution permeated many of the social evolutions observed from the 1950s to the 2000s.
While these themes are usually treated separately, the unveiling of exclusive archives will enable us to shed a new light on this social dynamic. The director also interviews sociologists, historians and philosophers in Europe and the United States to give us their perspective on this broad topic.

This film retraces the pharaohs’ – from Ramses II to Cleopatra – and the Romans’ steps to better understand the turbulent history of their temples up until their rescues. Thanks to an unprecedented international mobilization, discover an exceptional heritage saved at the cost of a "pharaonic" trip.

When they returned from southern Egypt, travelers reported the existence of temples between the Nubian desert and the Nile. Majestic stone colossi emerging from the sands kept the doors and their secrets. For centuries, Abu Simbel, Dendur, Amada and other monuments were victims of looting, earthquakes, desert encroachment and floods, only to end up almost being swallowed up by the waters in the 20th century. In 1954, the announcement of the construction of a dam threatened the whole of Nubia and more than 20 ancient shrines. Some temples were dismantled in a hurry and relocated to artificial islands, others were even shipped abroad in places such as Madrid, Turin or even New York. Former construction site workers attest to the grueling working conditions during operations. We also present archives revealing the ingenious rescue plans explained in 3D animations.

Almost 100 years after the discovery of King's Tut's Tomb, it is time to tell the story in a new light. This film uses 2D and 3D imagery to reconstruct the tomb, the mummy, the funerary objects and the topography of the famous valley of the Kings. We will discover that the treasure was not Tutankhamun's, but his sister's, Pharaoh before him! A surprising archaeological investigation.

Ninety years later, for the first time, most of these objects will finally be brought together in the precinct of the great Museum of Giza. Some of them will make their way to the U.S.A. and Paris, where they will be exposed at the Cité des Sciences et de l’Industries in the autumn of 2018 - and then in London, Berlin, Tokyo and Sidney. This film is the story of the discovery of a treasure of which we know only a few artefacts. It is also an investigation, and these objects will be so many clues along the way. What do these artefacts tell us about the king and the period of his reign ? In what circumstances were they discovered and taken away from the pharaoh’s tomb ? These are some of the many elements of this documentary narrative.

Nuremberg is where Nazi congresses were held. In the city where Hitler gathered huge crowds of fanatics, the court hosted in 1945 the greatest trial in History. The Allied victors judged those responsible for the Third Reich.

Among the defendants are the Führer's closest surviving accomplices. But not only them: defendant number 27 is not even a man. It is an entire organization: the SS were a state within the state – which ruled all the police – with its own army, within the Nazi regime.

The French director and historian Ruth Zylberman is sitting in a living room in the USA, visiting a 79-year-old man whom his Jewish parents hid with a stranger’s family during the German occupation of Paris. Henry Osman, born Henri Ossmann, hardly remembers his parents – not what they looked like, not what they did for a living. Zylberman has brought a pile of paper copies and is able to reconstruct parts of that childhood.

The house whose address gave the film its title – and where Osman lived as a small boy – is located in the Jewish district of Paris. Zylberman reconstructed the house community during the war in great detail: who lived here? Who knew whom? Re-enactments with dollhouse furniture and drawn floor plans at the former residents’ kitchen tables alternate with contemporary views of the building as she re-creates this typical Paris building in the Saint-Maur No. 209 as an anachronistic space in which history is still alive, right down to the cobbled courtyard. A highly focused and at the same time extremely emotional piece of experimental historiography.

Gandhi was a world known icon, a non-violent leader and symbol of India’s independence. What were his strategies to personify this struggle, and how did he make his own body and his image the key weapons of a worldwide communications battle in India, Europe and in the US?

With both archives of the events and shootings on sites, our film will also question what remains of the myth, what it still inspires, its failures as well as the way it was eventually betrayed.

Mandela’s legend is built in his absence, during his 27- year incarceration. In 1990, when Nelson Mandela is released, South Africa is waiting for their Messiah. He doesn’t know it yet, he is the most famous political prisoner of the Planet. Will he be up to the challenge?

The film evisits the genesis of a legend first built without the man itself, Mandela being jailed for 27 years. It is the story of a myth without a face, an international struggle against apartheid, popularised by political and pop culture figures all over the world. With a stabbing question: would Mandela be at the height?

By the end of 1917 a regiment of African-American soldiers had joined the trenches in France. By fighting with the “poilus”, under French command, they discovered both the horrors of war and another world entirely; a world where racial segregation did not exist.

The 15th regiment of the New York National Guard was exclusively made up of black soldiers. Nicknamed the Harlem Hellfighters, this American unit was to be the most decorated of the Second World War. It was also the one that fought on the front line for the longest time: 191 days.
It was not only liberty and democracy that they came to defend with fieriness in France, but also racial equality. By fighting on the Old Continent, the descendants of slaves hoped to win another war – one that was waged in their own country: the war against segregation.
These African-American soldiers hoped that when they came back home they would finally be considered as full-fledged US citizens. Here is their story.
