Even in wars, there are rules. One of them, universally recognized, is not to target civilians. What is the situation today? How are these "laws" applied practice in countries like Ukraine, Iraq and Turkey where civil war rage?

"Red Lines" takes us to the heart of these laws. Increasing numbers of armed groups, cross-border conflicts, killer robots, the influence of religion on the rules of engagement… Although the number of soldiers killed in combat has fallen dramatically since the end of the Second World War, civilians are now the primary victims of conflicts which ride roughshod over the rules and regulations.

In Moscow, religious power and political power work hand in hand in building Russia’s new ultra conservative and imperial identity. Kirill, the patriarch of the Russian Orthodox Church is Putin’s ally. He leads his church, influences Russian society and participates in international debates.

The Russian Church is back : helped by Putin who saw in this institution the useful cement of a Russia without future plan after the fall of Soviet Union, the church tries to impose its views on social issues in its country and wants to play a parallel diplomatic role abroad, to get back to its status under the Czars.  Exceptionally, Kirill, the Patriarch of Moscow and all Russia, has agreed on being filmed during a year, and takes us to meetings with Russian political leaders he invites in his Moscow cathedral, with the Palestinian president Mahmood Abbas, or above all with Putin, with who he parades ad infinitum. Their plan ?  Restore Holy Russia, propose a reactionary alternative to the western powers, that both denounce even to caricature.

Gentle spouses, housewives confined to housework, sex slaves. It has long been thought that women in the Islamic State were only victims forced to obey their husband, brother or father. This overly reductive image does not reflect reality.

Like men and children, it appears that Daesh has fully integrated these women, Arabs or Westerners, into its mode of operation. For two years, we met with a dozen women of ISIS who played an active role in the terrorist organization. Most of them are still in Iraq or Syria. Some have escaped to neighbouring Turkey. All of them hide and try to forget a painful and often shameful past. Among them are members of the Hisba, the Islamic police known for its cruelty, women of fighters who followed their men out of love or coercion, mothers, torturers, nurses, teachers. All these women, after months of denial, fear and hesitation, ended up talking without restraining. In the course of confidences is emerging a world of oppression, terror, privation, hypocrisy and regrets.
“Woman of Isis” this new documentary film is the third part of a triptyque that tells what really was the Islamic State is really like from the inside, through the voice of its citizens, the very people who made it work. This time, the role of women is recounted through interviews mainly carried out in Raqqa and Mosul, the two capitals of the caliphate, left in ruins today.

As the Calais jungle was set to be razed in October 2016, there were over 1900 unaccompanied minors stranded there - many of whom had a legal case to enter the UK. Sue fought to get these children recognised and their cases heard.

Young people had a legal case to be transferred to the UK under two pieces of EU and UK legislation. But as the film heartbreakingly tells, the UK government was not going to allow them to exercise these rights. But with the camp soon to go up in flames, could she do it in time? And what would happen to the children if not?

Who is Justin Trudeau? Mr Nice Guy welcoming syrian refugees and celebrating diversity, or your next door politician signing pipelines that are wrecking the canadian environment and trampling the rights of Canadian First Nations?

By smartly combining the absence of ideology and the power of both data mining and digital campaigning Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau embodies the “XXIth century liberalus homo politicus”. The advent of Donald Trump has awaken a debate in Canada. Is this young, bright, politically correct and good looking Prime Minister well prepared to lead a fight of this magnitude?

As a former CIA and NSA collaborator, Edward Snowden leaked the biggest mass surveillance scandal of the century. A secret meeting between him and global freedom and civil rights campaigners, Birgitta Jonsdottir and Larry Lessig turns into a freewheeling discussion about the future of democracy.

Russian hints that the country could hand over America's most wanted whistle blower as a favor to Donald Trump place Edward Snowden in even greater danger than before.
Birgitta Jonsdottir is a member of Iceland’s parliament; all her actions have been aimed at giving the people their voice back and opening up the parliamentary process and political decision-making.
Larry Lessig is a Harvard law professor. He tirelessly denounces the influence of money in US politics and the way establishment elites collude to support each other against the public interest.
The three activists agreed to be filmed during an extraordinary conversation about their ongoing struggles, the last bastions of democracy and the opportunities and choices still left to us.
The questions they ask are fundamental. Can democracy be saved? What unites us? How can you tell when democracy has failed?

China's “New Silk Roads” project is one of President Xi Jinping's grandest designs - perhaps even the grandest - a vast plan to create land and sea trade routes across the whole of Eurasia, stretching right into Europe.

Central to this strategic development project is the Eurasian Land Bridge, a 10,000-kilometre road and rail network that will run across western China to Central Asia via Kazakhstan, then along the edge of the Urals to Moscow and ultimately to Europe.
This New Silk Road is designed to allow China to expand westwards, to strengthen its hold on the Muslim province of Xinjiang, where the Uyghurs live and establish its dominance in Central Asia, historically within Russia's sphere of influence. Too bad if that means ruffling the feathers of its traditional ally.

With the arrival in power of Aung San Suu Kyi, Burma discovered a newfound freedom. But the country is facing a the rise of a fierce nationalist sentiment targeting the Muslim community of the Rohingya people, and spread by a group of extremist Buddhist monks.

What role do the 500,000 monks really play in this country where feelings run high? Is Burmese Buddhism a racist and nationalistic movement? What lies behind the monastic orders?

Three monks – each engaged on their own path in a Burma in search of identity – express their views, their concerns, and their hopes. One speaks in defense of the Lady of Rangoon; another preaches Buddhism in the most remote regions of the land; while the third, a nationalist, strives for the defense of a national identity which he sees as under threat.
