Gentle spouses, housewives confined to housework, sex slaves. It has long been thought that women in the Islamic State were only victims forced to obey their husband, brother or father. This overly reductive image does not reflect reality.

Like men and children, it appears that Daesh has fully integrated these women, Arabs or Westerners, into its mode of operation. For two years, we met with a dozen women of ISIS who played an active role in the terrorist organization. Most of them are still in Iraq or Syria. Some have escaped to neighbouring Turkey. All of them hide and try to forget a painful and often shameful past. Among them are members of the Hisba, the Islamic police known for its cruelty, women of fighters who followed their men out of love or coercion, mothers, torturers, nurses, teachers. All these women, after months of denial, fear and hesitation, ended up talking without restraining. In the course of confidences is emerging a world of oppression, terror, privation, hypocrisy and regrets.
“Woman of Isis” this new documentary film is the third part of a triptyque that tells what really was the Islamic State is really like from the inside, through the voice of its citizens, the very people who made it work. This time, the role of women is recounted through interviews mainly carried out in Raqqa and Mosul, the two capitals of the caliphate, left in ruins today.

We simply need to understand their lives – which is actually quite the uneasy task. Following the North Korean people's daily lives we discover an exotic, surprising life that is often rather funny – far from the military and dogmatic seriousness of the regime.

In northern Mali, a region plagued by Islamic terrorism, G5 Sahel patrols are fighting back against jihadis. Since 2012, Islamic extremists linked to al-Qaeda have taken control of northern Mali by exploiting a Tuareg separatist uprising.

Their control of the region – combined with the weakness of Bamako's power and the fragility of the Sahel region – is a cause for concern. Despite French intervention and the deployment of joint forces from five Sahelian countries, terrorist groups still control a large part of the region and are increasingly influential in Burkina Faso and Niger.
How do African states fight terrorism over such a vast territory? How are the actions on the ground implemented? The task is daunting and uncertain in this high-tension area.

These journalists are aged from 10 to 17 and produce a newspaper that is unique in the world, made by and for street children. Jyoti is their editor-in-chief. She never sat on school benches and successively begged, stole and collected garbage... before working for Balaknama, "The Children's Voice".

They now print 8,000 copies in Hindi and English; the newspaper is entirely managed by children and highlights positive initiatives. Yet it does not hesitate to address police brutality, drug problems and forced labor, to the point of moving local authorities on some of the subjects denounced in its pages. A great achievement for a publication whose journalists’ average age is 14...
Balaknama has changed the fate of the 400 children who have had a hand in its success since its launch in 2003. Jyoti got over her drug addiction and would like to continue to help other kids in trouble. Deepak, 16, has resumed his studies; after years of working at the factory, he would like to like to become a TV presenter someday.
Every single one of them is proud to take up this daunting task with renewed pride: to carry the voice of the 100,000 street children of Delhi.

"I am the most bullied person in the world” – Melania Trump recently complained on the ABC channel. It is true that the American First Lady is a regular subject of mockery, and even insults.

Mocked for her multiple blunders, some see her as a schemer who seems to be out of place in the spotlight. Others, on the contrary, celebrate her classicism and discretion as a sign of a return to traditional moral values.
What if the truth is more complex? Who is Melania Trump really?

18 years after its intervention that ended the Taliban regime, the United States will finally withdraw its troops – 14,000 soldiers who operate both as part of a NATO mission to support the Afghan army and in independent counter-terrorist operations.

In 2017, Afghanistan became the country where terrorism killed the most people in the world. The number of civilians killed has never been so high in 10 years. Afghanistan is more unstable than ever: much of the country is under Taliban control and the Islamic State group regularly carries out deadly attacks as far as the capital, Kabul.
Without the US task force, the Afghan National Army, plagued by corruption and mass desertion, is unlikely to counter the Taliban, criminal groups, and the Afghan branch of the Islamic State. Faced with the ineffectiveness of the regular forces, thousands of villagers took up arms to form "popular uprisings", a kind of local militia that ended up being partly financed by the government. But among these small groups, many have been accused of abuses, torture and even war crimes, motivated by territorial conflicts between clan leaders. After the departure of American troops, the new militias may well tear each other apart for the benefit of the Taliban and the IS...
