This film, consisting entirely of archives, will recount the daily lives of both German civilians and soldiers during the six years of WW2, from its start in September 1939 up to the months following the German surrender. A plunge into the private lives of a people on the path to self-destruction.

April 1945. The allied bombings had reduced Germany to ruins. The American and Soviet forces were concentrating on Berlin. Yet even when everything was already clearly lost, the Germans continued to fight for the Nazi regime to the bitter end. However, when the Second World War exploded six years earlier, the idea of war was deeply unpopular amongst the German population. How can such a tremendous shift in public opinion be explained ? What did the Germans believe they were fighting for ? Were they aware that they were leading a genocidal war? Why did the German people continue to fight to the death, despite the bombings, hardships and deprivation, convinced that they were fighting for their survival ?

Based on The German War. A Nation Under Arms, 1939-45 - the innovative work by the historian Nicholas Stargardt drawn from a Herculean research effort - this film, consisting entirely of archives, will recount the daily lives of both German civilians and soldiers during the six years of the Second World War, from its start in September 1939 up to the months following the German surrender. Constructed from the letters, diaries and eyewitness accounts of Germans from all walks of life, the film plunges us into the lives of the men and women who lived through the tornado born of their own violence. Soldiers writing to their fiancees or their families, World War I veterans, members of Hitler Youth, persecuted Jews, anti-Nazis, priests and pastors, journalists, writers... The words they left behind reveal the personal thoughts of a people at war, raising the curtain on the mechanics of the Nazi regime.

This is a direct dive into the tsunami of World War II, when Nazism pushed its mortal logic to the extreme end.

In the Middle Ages, master builders reinvented the art of construction to erect the Gothic cathedrals. In Paris, a vast building site gave rise to the most famous of these stone wonders: Notre-Dame. Seven centuries passed between the laying of the first stone and its restoration in the 19th century, during which time the cathedral witnessed some tumultuous moments in the history of France, from the most glorious to its darkest periods.

This great historical sweep is told through a gripping documentary recreation using 3D animation, combined with exclusive footage and interview sequences to provide the context and explain the construction techniques to recount the destiny of the men and women who, driven by their faith, ambition and skill, built, embellished, and finally saved Paris’s cathedral. The Secrets of the Builders : Notre-Dame blends powerful drama and scientific rigor based on detailed historical research, resulting a in a new filmic language through which to recount history. The film is produced for France 5’s prime-time science slot. Historians, scientists, architects and engineers will be interviewed to bring factual elements to this epic story.

The working class has played an essential part of European countries’ history – through revolutions, wars and social progress.  In 4 episodes of a spectacular tale, this show reminds us of what our societies owe to the workers’ movements and its struggles.

The story begins in the 18th century. But their fight carries on today. Much of our current democracies’ institutions and values flow from older working class demands: universal suffrage or social solidarity are some of its most telling examples. Our culture – the way we dress, the songs we listen to, the movies we watch and the mass-media themselves – heavily relies on the workers’ erstwhile popular culture. Finally, all across Asia, Africa and Latin America, millions of women and men experience lives similar to the 18th and 19th centuries’ European working class. We will bring out the present’s ever looming shadow by constantly flowing back and forth between history and current situations. Those contemporary testimonies and photographs will help us gather the threads of memory between yesterday and nowadays together again.

Famous for its ghost, the Garnier Opera House is above all the product of a titanic building site and the window of a time, the Second Empire. From 1852 to 1870, eighteen years of flamboyance made Paris the capital of modernity and the seat of "the civilization of opera".

This 90-minute documentary aims to tell the story of the great Paris construction of the Garnier Opera House, which lasted 14 years (from 1861 to 1875). While plunging into the backstage, its wheels and its legends, it will explain the special place it occupied in what Nietzsche called the "civilization of opera", the golden age of the bourgeoisie based on the appearance and the spectacular, which was then put in place. By the admission of Charles Garnier, the Opera as a whole was to serve as stage for the new elite of the time. From the story of its construction and architectural details, we will open windows on historical, social, political and artistic themes that will be treated to the image by paintings, period photos, film clips, animations in 3D and historical evocations (fiction). We will also call on specialized speakers on these different themes. Interviewed in studio and in situ, they will guide us, step by step, in this building still alive and full of anecdotes. Throughout the story, we will also follow the myth of the ghost, invented from scratch by the novelist Gaston Leroux, and so well integrated into the monument that it remains today THE symbol and an important key to understanding. Finally, music and ballet will be present in this film, in the form of musical excerpts and lyrical performances.

After “700 Sharks”, “Diving with the Coelacanth” and “Expedition Antarctica”, Laurent Ballesta has yet again challenged himself to a new world record: spend 28 days at a depth of 100 meters, pushing the limits of his body to reveal the luxuriant and unknown depths of the Mediterranean.

The Mediterranean. Because people have been travelling there for thousands of years, it is believed to be without secrets. And yet, far below its surface, lie vast unexplored territories, luxurious gardens worthy of the finest tropical coral reefs. These natural wonders are inaccessible to the traditional diver, in a twilight zone, between 60 and 120 m, where there’s less than 1% of sunlight. If diving at such depths is always a challenge, staying there is a fantasy, a utopia that becomes reality in Planet Mediterranean.
In the tradition of Commander Cousteau and his «houses under the sea», the team of diver-photographer Laurent Ballesta is undertaking a new world-record setting mission in complete freedom and without time limit.

Haute cuisine is a modern luxury that was invented over a century ago by one man. Auguste Escoffier revolutionized French cooking and dining experience and made them a world reference in culinary arts.

He became the legendary chef of the first luxury hotels: the Ritz in Paris, the Savoy and Carlton in London, and then New York. He set the new model of modern gastronomy: organization in the kitchen, uniforms for the personnel, new recipes, hygiene measures, presentation of the dishes and service of course. Through reenactments, archives and interviews of starred-chefs from around the world, we will retrace the birth of haute cuisine and how the legacy of Escoffier remains today

April 2016, an earthquake shakes the art world. A masterpiece has just been uncovered. Today, we know it’s Caravaggio’s Judith and Holofernes. For two years we followed the countless upheavals among experts caused by its authentication and determination of its worth.

We went behind the scenes of the closely knitted world of art experts to understand the secrets behind the assessment of an art piece that mixes science, historical analysis and intuition. The film offers a dive into an extraordinary investigation: Who is Caravaggio? Why does his name panic the market? Why are his paintings worth so much? What does this painting represent? How and who decides on an attribution? For two years, we had the rare privilege to follow the preparation of a public auction. In June 2019, a major auction is organized near where the painting was discovered. International buyers from around the world will gather there and this could turn into the art sale of the century.

Modigliani’s work is among the most recognizable in modern art, but we know almost nothing about the man himself. Based on an ongoing scientific study, the film reveals the secrets behind the myths surrounding this Bohemian artist, to coincide with the centenary of his death in 1920.

Born in 1884, Amedeo Modigliani left no legacy of correspondence or theoretical writings. The public interest in his work seems to be inversely proportional to the attention paid to his life by art historians. Today, some of his paintings achieve astronomical prices at auction (the 1917 work “Reclining Nude” sold in 2015 at Christie’s for more than 170 million dollars). In parallel, Modigliani is attracting fresh attention, and a handful of historians, art critics, and curators are keen to understand the man behind the legend.
This film sets out to retrace his life, exploring key locations and relationships, and his influences. It will also draw on unprecedented scientific research studying 26 paintings and three sculptures by Modigliani held in French public collections.

All along the Arctic coast of Norway, there's a bloody battle going on between three different species: orcas, whales…and humans! And it's all over the vast schools of herring that migrate to the Frozen North to seek shelter there in the fjords.!

Follow Didier Noirot, one of the world's greatest underwater cameramen, as he tracks down the giants of the deep - using 8K underwater cameras and drones - and dives right into the heart of the hunt. Orcas – or "killer whales" – have developed what is called the "carousel" technique for catching herring: they surround them with bubbles then drive them up to the surface. But now the other whales are no longer scared of joining in to claim their share of the booty. Then there are the humans, with their huge nets: they too are after the same prize. Who is going to win the Herring War?
